I attended this years Chicago Plant and Garden Show on Navy pier and meet with folks at Sunshine Systems to look at some very amazing led lighting. I used grow lights in my home to start seeds for my rooftop garden. I received the GrowPanel 45 and just installed it today. I’ve always used florescent bulbs to go seedlings and to also force plants to bloom. The GrowPanel is made completely of LED lights. I am a hugh fan of LED lights because of the reduced heat emission and the reduction in electrical costs. My goal is to provide all of you a weekly update on how this lighting is working on my hard to bloom plants and new seedlings. I will take pictures and keep you posted.
I am amazed at the results that I am seeing with my plants that have been growing under the GrowPanel 45. My streptocarpus bloomed in less than 2 weeks. I was very surprised to see such quick results. The instructions noted that you remove the plant from under the light and enjoy it. I’ve replaced it with another blooming plant.
Paul and Jocelyn talk to Ernie and Erica about how to reduce your energy consumption through the use of incandescent light bulbs. Ernie explains how Paul is wrong. They talk about how the power companies are uninterested in you actually reducing your consumption. Ernie underlines that your heat bill is one part of the puzzle, but that solving one part of the puzzle will not save the world, whereas Paul says that if people could save 60% on their heat bill, instead of buying LEDs that would be a big step in the right direction.
