MADURAI: A farmer in Madurai district, who adopted organic farming, has reaped a handsome paddy harvest.
A N M Tiruppathi of Kulamangalam village has revived the agricultural methods of his ancestors and used cow and sheep dung to enrich the soil on his 15 acres of paddy field. He used organic pesticides too.
The farmer reaped 792kg of paddy crop during a sample harvesting carried out in 20 cents of land in the presence of officials from agriculture department on Monday.
It has been estimated that the farmer could reap more than 3000kg of paddy harvest from one acre of land.
