How to germinate lemon seeds successfully – Green Thumb

Having a citrus tree can be very rewarding if you want to have a nice refreshing drink in summer or to spruce up your cooking. Growing lemon trees can be easily done, even here in Wales, UK.

You can gather lemon seeds from extracting them inside the lemons purchased from supermarkets. The way in which I germinate lemon tree seedlings is to first take the outer layer off the seeds, this can be tricky if you don’t have any nails because the seeds outer layer can be very slippery. Using a tea towel to dry them off  first can help this process, the seed underneath is dry.

The dry seed is then ready to be planted in a pot of soil about 2-3cm below the surface. It is best to use a seed that looks plump to give it the best cha….
