By mtrout CommentThe revving of the little chainsaw on a pole. Excellent swarm catching tool. I’m standing on the A-frame ladder holding a Rubbermaid to catch the giant strand of bees hanging from the willow tree. S is at the top of an even bigger ladder leaning on the trunk of the tree, way up there, trying to cut the branch so the big bee ball will fall into this container I’m holding, following the sway as the saw and the wind causes the mass of bees to move. Bees start falling on my upturned face—yes, I’ve got a veil on, but still—just hailing down in big heaps of buzzing. Hundreds, thousands of bees hitting my body while my arms and legs ache from the reaching. My brain says, I should be scared but I’m not.
