Wether or not coffee is a resource-intensive product is no longer the question…rather the issue at hand. The resulting question is whether or not coffee can be produced sustainably. Experts say that if the world is going to continue to drink coffee fifty years from now, production methods are going to have to endure some drastic changes. The “hot topic” within the coffee industry is addressing what changes need to take place in order to ensure a decent cup of coffee in the next century. If no changes are made in the production process, the world could potentially run out of coffee by 2080.
