We all grew up with the reduce, re-use, recycle model although until recent years I didn’t really understand the core concept. I was raised in the generation of plastics, a throw-away society, far away from nature and absent from nature’s cycles. My parents had a garden and we kept a compost mostly made up of lawn clippings and watermelon rinds. Because most food scraps went to the dog or down the garbage disposal, I wasn’t stimulated to think about what composting really was: turning food into more (and better) food.
