It is a well documented fact that more then 80% of energy consumed is through the use of fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and petroleum products. These add about 10 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide per year and is one of the main causes of global warming. Also released in the atmospehere are Sulfur oxide, nitrous oxide. They induce various respiratory diseases in humans and pollute the lakes and rivers rendering them acidic. These also affect adversely the plant and animal life.
